It took me a long time to finally get to make my own blog.
Long time browsing other pages, long time hesitating, but now is the time. So people, what will you find here?
Basically music and other related topics. I'm am man of diverse taste so you will get Reggae, Salsa, Dub, Samba, Jazz, Afrobeat, Highlife, Cadence, Calypso, Saharian music, Blues, Funk, Rhythm & Blues, Boogaloo, Rock, Hip Hop and more...
My main focus will be music on vinyl, both originals and repress, maybe I will post about reedition labels, maybe some artists bio, maybe a rum critic to had some (alcoholic) fuel to your listening pleasure, we'll see...
So, without more introduction, I would like to share a first tune with you, and, as friends should expect, it's reggae related (I'm sipping a 15 years Zacapa rum while writing so pardon my English :-)

Here you have the full 12' A Side of this unknown (according to discogs it's their only release...) British reggae band. I have been connected to this tune for a long time : when I first began to browse the web for more records some years ago, I participate to a sale listing on eBay for this record. Except the label had been removed (quite usual in reggae...) or it was a blank or a dubplate, I don't remember precisely.
What I do remember is that there was a little extract of the tune and it was, hum...a damn' killer Brit' reggae tune! The band name was not mentioned and the tittle was badly handwritten as "Rock down the Globe".
I asked some specialists friends about it but no one had a clue and the record ended sold at crazy price...
So, years went by and I kept the little extract somewhere, always hoping to get my hand on this plater.
Until this 12' finally appeared on my radar, the title reminding me of this personal graal, and I finally got it.
It appeared it's a reasonably rare material, but not totally unknown as I first expected.
There is 3 files in the Zip attached which are the 3 parts of A side, in a classical reggae showcase 12' : the song, the dub, and a "singjay" version (it's not really like a jamaican DJ, you'll see). Usually I'm not fond of DJ versions but this one is special in my opinion. I particularly like the theme of hesitating between having a good time at home with a young girl or going to a "late night blues". And, as you should expect from a reggae lover, the singer finally chooses to go to the dance!
OK folks, I leave you with the song, hope you'll appreciate it and I will try to update this post with pictures of the label (done now).
If anyone has more information about the band, please share it with us.
Good night from France,
Peace,
Ben
